Dialogues on Site and Art Practice

Site Dialogues is an ongoing artistic project that explores the relationship between site, artistic practice, and reflection through writing.

Taking the form of letters, artists are invited to write about their evolving practices, responding to the places, encounters, memories, and conditions that shape their work. Rather than presenting a finished statement, each letter captures a particular moment within an ongoing process—thoughts in formation, questions that remain unresolved, and reflections that may shift over time.

Shared with audiences, these letters extend artistic practice beyond the artwork itself, creating an open and continuing conversation between the artist, their practice, the site, and those who encounter it.

Site Dialogues considers writing not simply as documentation, but as part of artistic practice itself.

Aono Fumiaki

Aono Fumiaki reflects on his time in Gwangju—collecting discarded materials, encountering local histories and people, and allowing the work to emerge gradually through the process itself.

Through his words, we gain a closer look at how site, memory and chance become part of his artistic practice.
